Hal Halibut here, again. Wow! It really looks like you investigators have really been outside the safe corals of the sea and explored all the different types of fish defense for me! I really couldn't have done it without you! I feel very confident that after reading your research that I will be able to keep my fish safe, happy, and healthy. We have learned so much in this short time. Even though you were learning about fish, you were also perfecting you research skills, note-taking skills, working together as a group, and presenting your findings in a creative way! I wish I was in 4th grade again!

You know, fish defense is a pretty interesting thing. We learned that when fish feel threatened, they defend themselves using poison/chemicals, camouflage/mimicry, and communication (color, schooling, fighting, and sounds). These are all important ways fish survive! If you were a fish, what defense mechanism would you pick to keep yourself alive? Share with your classmates and remember:

When you put your line in the water and you don't know what's on the other end; it's your imagination you've caught.

Use every day as an imagination. Seek new knowledge, seek to dive deeper, and you'll never know what you might catch!

After researching all the different types of fish that use different kinds of defense mechanisms, why don't you take a look at the types of fish that live in different environments! You could do some of your own research at home or at the library to see where your favorite fish lives! Click on this link to play a game where you build your own fish and pick where it lives!
